My Not-to-Do List

I will NOT take a picture of Ouro Branco kneading bread this morning ... and then cuddling it close to him and crooning "shhhh, baby."

I will NOT take a picture of the enormous snowman in front of our house, complete with scarf, hat, and a pinecone smile.

I will NOT take a picture capturing the breathtaking beauty of snowflakes clinging to Little Prince's mile-long eyelashes.

I will NOT take a picture of OB sitting on the four-wheeler, vroom-vroooming it with a grin so wide it split his face in two.

I will NOT take a picture of my children attempting to jump on a trampoline so thick with ice they could hardly stand, but merely collapsed into little heaps of human giggles.

I will NOT take a picture of OB holding his one-year-old cousin's chubby little hand, guiding him around the house and looking so dang cute that it would melt Scrooge.

I will NOT take a picture of LP jamming on Guitar Hero with his uncles and aunts, bobbing his head to the music complete with lolling tongue.

I will NOT take a picture of Mr. Squishy gobbling up carrots for the first time, following the spoon with such enthusiasm that he almost fell off the chair.

I will NOT take a picture of OB chasing the cat. Repeatedly. Laughing hysterically.

I will NOT take a picture of my children gathered before the fire, sipping hot cocoa and loving on their grandma.

I will not be taking pictures of any of these things. Because I will be DOING them - right alongside my kids.

The fact that you are doing them with your kids means you are taking a mental picture, which is the best kind of all (if you ever watched Friends, think of Alec Baldwin holding a pretend camera and saying *click*).

It makes me nervous not to have my camera attached to me during such activities, but it is so much more fun not to worry about it! And the first one just makes me say, "Awwwwww..."

Such a cute post! And I drop my camera all the time, and would in a situation such as this.

Merry Christmas!

Glad you aren't wasting time with a camera when there's so much good stuff to do/see/etc. Enjoy it while it lasts! They grow up WAY too fast.

You just made me feel so much better about how few pictures I take. It is because I'm too busy doing them! Thanks for that. Sounds like a wonderful time.

The mental pictures are also worth a thousand words. And the DOING of them? Priceless. Great post.
