DO insist on your children eating lunch before leaving for the airport. Even when they whine that they're not huuuuuuuungrrrrrrrrrry, force feed them. They will be hungry the exact moment the plane is in the air.
DO NOT under any circumstances catch the 4:30 plane for a four hour flight. This means that they will miss both naptimes AND dinner.
DO NOT travel during a snowstorm. Your plane will leave an hour late and you will have to wait an hour for your bags. Then drive two hours to your in-laws.
DO NOT travel when your 2-year-old has an ear infection. And diarrhea. And an angry diaper rash so bad it actually screams expletives when uncovered.
DO NOT get on a plane with said 2-year-old when said plane does not have a diaper changing table. Nuff said.
DO make sure your portable DVD player is charged. That way, when you promise promise promise your children they can watch a movie, you can actually follow through.
and above all ....
DO NOT travel with children.

Yeah, I think I'll take your advice.
Sounds like an adventure. We're driving 12 hours to and from Portland in a week with Mae. I'm pretty nervous--I've never attempted such a thing. I guess in a car they can only drive you crazy and not the 200 other people on the plane.
Oh man. Reading that makes me want to cry for you.
Next time, Benadryl.
So I'm guessing you had a fun trip. We have had a few similar flights. BUT...it sure beats hours and hours in a car!
Wow. I'll bet you're glad that's over with! I hate flying with children. Throw in diarrhea and all those other fun factors, and you get an all-day torture session - for EVERYONE involved. (Including stewardesses, and fellow passengers.)
Totally feeling for you! And glad my kids are all potty-trained:)
I have to concur that trying to change a diaper in an airplane "lavatory" is about as easy as trying to put mascara on a greased pig. I'm just sayin'.
Oh Becky, that sounds like hell. I'm still cringing :(
Oh, that's bad. And I thought I had a bad day.
I SOOOO totally agree... no children makes for a much more pleasant trip.
I tied that Benadryl tip that everyone gives, only it doesn't make my kids sleepy. It turns them in crazy people (think cheerleaders on triple strength Dr. Pepper).
Do not travel with children. Check.
YESSSS Vanessa!!
I used to do that every now and then. Heck, I still do that on long car trips. Here kids, take some of motion sickness pills!
Amen sister. I am thinking husbands too in this advice. :)
They fart silently. It kills me.
Sounds like you had an awful good time! (keyword awful) :)
I'm starting to plan a trip and I came across a great new site called Peterman's Eye Travel. Thought I'd share...
