My grandma gave me an apron for Christmas. It belonged to her mother. I love it.
It makes me feel pretty and feminine. Alluring, even.
It makes me want to cook fancy meals for my husband instead of just kids' fare (or cold cereal.)
When I wear it, it reminds me to speak softly when my children are arguing.
I give more hugs and less warnings.
I feel like generations of good mommies are telling me to calm down and enjoy it.

And it's so pretty!
I love the cape picture.
I don't think even the prettiest apron could make me a good cook, but the cape thing....
Making myself a pretty apron has been on my to-do list for a while. But if you say it can do all of those things, perhaps I should stop procrastinating! Who knew an apron might change my life?
What a wonderful gift! I love how it turns you into someone better, someone extraordinary, by virtue of its specialness.
When I got married my grandma gave me an apron shower, so i still have a whole cupboard full of wonderful, handmade throwbacks to a simpler time. I'm going to make a point of exploring that cupboard more often, and with greater purpose.
Great post!
Wow! You can get all that from an apron? Sign me up!!
I know EXACTLY what you mean. My mother always made sure we had frilly aprons when we lived at home, and sent one off to college with us. I never really thought about it, but you are totally right!
Nice to have you back too :)
I am so jealous of your awesome handmade apron-cape!
Wow, I think I really need an apron like that if it does all those things!
seriously. I get it. I SO get it. I've been wanting a apron/cape for these very reasons.
I agree with your analysis of the power of a nice apron. Different aprons convey very different things! But as a cape - that is a whole new experience!
