Attention, all future-sister-in-law wannabes

Dear Brazilian Young Women program,

Hi there! As you are well aware, my 17-year-old brother is in town. He got here this morning - but, silly me, you knew this. You've been marking down the days on your calendars.
Let me emphasize something: HE DOESN'T SPEAK PORTUGUESE. And your limited skills in English won't get you far. In fact, even if you could speak fluently, he will surely run away if you approach him breathlessly with, "You are bewtiful verrry much! Kiz me! I love you!" It's just not a tactic American boys are familiar with.

Cheers!

That Girl

That is SO funny. Reminds me so much of my mission in Argentina where I was told all those things and more. It's funny how annoying a compliment can become after you've heard it WAY too much. :)

I'm just so glad he's the type that would run. I'm sure there are lots of American boys who would like to be more familiar with this Brazilian approach...

I'm sure it's a terrible, terrible thing for his ego. Poor guy. :D

Yes, but tell the truth! You are secretly busting with pride that your little brother is so dang cute and the girls can't seem to get enough of him... come on -- tell the truth!

This could be like out of control fun. Watch him like a mother hawk. The girls are going to go brazillian on him.

Poor boy. Or not. Depends on how you look at it.

He's adorable! The girls in Brazil are going to be falling all over themselves. Can I send my 17-year-old son down to hang out with you guys?

I came by to check out your blog for a few reasons...my grandpa was born in Brazil, I love your profile pic, and my hubby is also a bishop. I will come again. You write very often, huh?

Are you tri-lingual, that girl? I am guessing that you must speak Portuguese and obviously have a grasp of the English language. However, I am also seeing a ton of Asian characters in your comments this morning.

Is there no end to your super powers?

Oh, and I think your brother will probably do OK. The language of love does not necessarily require words. :)
