I, Rebel

I was kind of a boring teenager. I broke curfew a couple times, and I might have talked smack to my mother now and then, but mostly I was Ms. Goody Two Shoes. My first kiss wasn't until after I graduated from high school. And I never, ever snuck out.

So to make up for my square-ishness, I TOTALLY RAN AWAY LAST WEEK.

And thanks to scheduled postings, YOU didn't even know it! See? SUPER SNEAKY.

We went to Rio last week. As in de Janeiro. We've been there before, but it's been a l-o-n-g while. As in, last time we were there, our family looked like this:

That's depressing.
(And DANG Mr. Squishy looks like Little Prince.)
So anyway, My Man had a meeting with a client last week and asked if I wanted to tag along sans kids.
Tcha!

So while he was in his meeting I got my nails done. For R$15 (about half that in dollars.) Brazilian manicures? Heavenly.
And then I got to hang out with
M
Y
M
A
N

Yum.

We saw this randomly cool boat display. And said, "I sail!" a lot.

Then we went to a super famous churrascaria and I ate Ratatouille. ("Let's do this thing!")
And I felt stupid taking this picture. But I did it. For you.

We rode in a taxi. My Man was super excited.

It was kinda rainy, but it made for a (sorta) good picture.

I don't know why this building is. But it's cool.

We got a hotel to freshen up and - mini bar devotees that we are - checked it out. What's that in the corner there?

Ah, of course.
This IS Rio, folks.
But the best part of the trip was AMERICAN food. Or Australian, take your pick.

Rio rocks. Hun, I'm up for a getaway when-e-vah.

We were on Spring Break in St. Agustine Florida last week and I posted as if from home. The same reason you have fences around your place, just hoping to throw off the would be robbers. I never let anyone know we are heading out of town until we get back!! I just think it's smarter and safer that way.

I'm so excited for you and hubby! What a wonderful little trip. Looks as if it was so much fun! Yea!

Oh my gosh!!! It looks so beautiful there...
I love the way the mountains go straight up from the beach..like Hawaii.
And the food...don't get me started.
And the trip with a hubby...to Rio...whoa.

Looks like Rio was a blast. I know how you feel with the American food. When we were in the phillipines we couldn't find real American food. And we were only there for 10 days.

You were pretty back then ... and you're even prettier now! Your life looks fun. :-)

VERY sneaky! I didn't suspect. I love scheduled postings. I definitely use them to my advantage. So jealous about Rio, too. I've been to Sao Paolo twice, but never to Rio. Some day!

How fun! I've always wanted to visit Rio just for that statue. It looks like a great time. Getaways are always good.

How wonderful!! We are attempting to plan a trip to San Francisco for our 15th anniversary. We'll see if it works. But that is not half as cool as Rio! Wahoo!!

I have a sudden hankering to go to Rio. And to eat an Outback Bloomin' Onion.

Wow, Rio! I would like it if my husband invited me to tag along to his office for the day sans kids. (The sans part would be crucial of course.) I'm totally jealous.

And I'm digging the condoms at the minibar. Very classy.

Such a rebel!! Can't believe it!

Looks like fun...

The condoms aren't such a bad idea... they should have those at a few hotels around here. ;)

So glad you got a trip with your man. How nice. I'm either pleased or dismayed that Outback Steakhouse is representing American cuisine...

Glad you had fun though! I would give my right pinky (almost) to have a sweet hubby getaway rightaboutnow!!!!

How lovely!

We're getting away this weekend...except...with the kids. And to visit my smokes a pack a day and gets drunk every night mother-in-law.

Yeah.

But I don't hate you or anything. I'm not bitter.

I have been dying for a getaway for weeks. We were going to go to LA next week, but, alas... not in the plans anymore.

Glad you had fun!

Okay - Two things:

1. The only time I rode in a Taxi when I lived in Rio I was given a brochure for hookers.

2. You are fired for eating at the Outback in Rio. There is SO much amazing food there and you wussed out. One word: Porc~ao

You little sneak! Running away and not telling your blogging family. =)

Love all the pictures, especially the picture of the prophylactic. I'm glad you got to run away with your man. Looks like you had a blast!

It doesn't matter how exotic the place you live is, everyone needs a good getaway every once in a while. Change of scenery does wonders. And we we lived in Beijing for a summer, we occasionally HAD to go to Hard Rock Cafe for some "American" food, so I totally understand.

Stephanie said...

That was supposed to be "when we" instead of "we we."

Vacations sans children? HEAVEN.

I was also a very mild-mannered teenager. My rebellion was watching Adam Sandler movies in my friend's basement. And I saw Titanic against my mother's wishes.

But RIO!!!! If you're gonna rebel and run away, that's the way to DO IT, girl!!! Looks like you had a blast.

Man.....I need to run away to Rio...or anywhere that doesn't include work!!!! I'm so behind on my blogging because I've had to work the last 6 days in a row and looong hours. Why didn't you bring me along? *sigh*

Way happy for you...

Lucky. I tried to run away. But forgot my wallet and had to come back home. HUGE bummer.

Rio looks smashing! I want to come visit. How does tomorrow sound?

Ha, ha! Looks like an awesome trip. I love the photo with the fog, very cool. Big news around these parts is that they are going to open an Outback in Curitiba. I didn't even realized they had them here.

Hel said...

DEFINITELY American. The most American food here is to be found at the Outback. That's right... they have managed to infiltrate Australian.

I can't read any other language other than english, but I am guessing those condoms are definitely FOR sex... not against?
