Mommy Monday

I got this idea from the marvelous Janae. She is an amazing mom, and yet doesn't make me feel stupid about my own efforts. Love that lovely lady.

So here it is: bowling with POP BOTTLES.

(And for the record, it's pop - not soda. Do not sully my blog with misnomers, pleaseandthankyou.)

We're not big pop drinkers in my house, but we have a lot of youth parties. And I save all the bottles - they make excellent storage containers for flour, beans and rice. And bowling. Duh.

Maximum noise with minimum damages. Can it GET any better than this?

No pictures of us doing it. Contrary to popular opinion, a camera is NOT permanently attached to my face. And sometimes the best memories are the ones not documented, don't you think?

Our babysitter came up with this fun idea at my house last Summer (I'm not this creative). She let the kids decorate the bottles, filled them with dyed salt or sugar (not sure which) for weight and they rolled Bocce balls at them. FUN!

I still remember my first day of living in Mississippi (when I was 9)and my new little friend asked what pop was. Huh? My new little friend corrected me. It's soda.

And so I must disagree with my new friend in Brazil. It's SODA!

Ha, ha! I called it pop until I moved to the states. That one so threw me off! The other one that got me was Nike - pronounced 'Nighk' not 'Nigh-key'. Everyone looked at me like I was psychotic when I said that one wrong. :)

ps. Suddenly I feel nervous, like I have to go post something fabulously entertaining on my blog!! But thanks for the compliment. They do make great noise, don't they?!

My teenagers might even like that one. We're going to have a lesson on returning to virtue...sigh. Teens are hard.

Where I come from, they're all called Coke bottles no matter what they once contained. Gotta love vernacular.

This is a great idea. And since all of our bottles once contained diet Coke, we call them "nectar of the gods bottles."

I hope you have all your Mommy Monday posts saved in one place, because I'm going to use every single idea for my own kids. And then our kids will be so much alike they will get married. Then we get to be related- finally!
