This is it. My BIG HUGE IDEA.

I remember well when we first brought Little Prince home almost five years ago. He was so little and cute. We were skinny and naive. I had taken all the parenting classes and was fairly confident about the how-tos of babyhood. I could extrapolate for hours about the benefits of listening to Mozart in the womb, was eloquent about the pros and cons of pacifiers, and could describe in detail the proper way to breast feed.

But mostly LP just slept. And I was bored.

I would sit and stare at him, waiting for him to wake up so that I would have something to do. By the time My Man came home, I was frantic for adult conversation. And also for a sounding board to my thousands of questions:

"LP slept 21 hours today. Is that normal? Too much? Too little?"

"He wants to nurse every half hour all morning, and then goes four hours in the afternoon. Should I be worried?"

"His poo was slightly green today. Do you think it was all that broccoli casserole I ate, or is he sick?"

And then one day I HAD IT.

"HUN - " I announced when My Man waltzed in. (More like sauntered, really. He's not much of a waltzer. Sorry, hun, it's true.)

"HUN - I have the GREATEST IDEA. All the women in the world should make, like, this huge NETWORK. And we could TALK together. And CONSULT with one another. And COMFORT one another. And it would be AWESOME."

Whaddya think? Did I have a great idea or what? I should be a millionaire.

You. Are. A. Genius.

Oh, you definitely deserve a margin of the blogger profits! :)

Are there blogger profits?

I am so glad you thought of it. I just wish I would have joined sooner. I was bored with my first kid too. Now my youngest is leaving and going to Kindergarten in August.

Of course, you're a genius. Who ever doubted?

Y'know...a good saunter can be just as difficult as a good waltz. Also: just as sexy.

but not as sexy as a truly brilliant idea.

And here Al Gore thought HE invented it
...right after he invented the internet!

ROFLOL!!!

((HUGS))

(I'm sooooooooo glad it was really YOU, instead!)

You should definitely be a millionaire.

This blogging thing is a lifesaver for us, isn't it?

I always knew you were MUCH smarter than Al Gore!
You're brilliant!

You really are brilliant! But my sympathy with being bored is limited...my babies don't sleep. ;o)

You always were the brightest crayon in the box!!

Great. Now all those 'no kids yet' moms-to-be have been told the part about their Mozart-educated infants refusing to engage in stimulating dialogue. Dangit, that was supposed to be a secret!

I invented virtual reality video games and flying cars. Just because you've only seen one and not the other doesn't mean I'm not being equally shafted on those royalty checks.

That picture of you two and the baby is darling.

Wow.

You invented blogging.

How cool is that?!

Good job little mama! We all owe you a great big Thanks!

I have not entered the parenting world where having support as a mother is so crucial, but when I get there, I'm glad there are voices like yours out there. It is fun reading about your family - what cute kids and relevant thoughts about life.

Kazzy said...

You should be raking in finders fees for your brilliant idea!

Fun post!

Let us know when the royalty checks come.

I can totally relate, because I had this awesome, snarky little comment all ready -

And someone else had already said it. So much for my genius idea.

(But you were WAY ahead of your time).

I totall invented the George Foreman Grill. Just because he's so big and bulky, he gets all the credit.

I could take him.

Seriously, what did we do before blogging? It's like a world without cordless. Or discs. Or when we all thought Rosie was really the Queen of Nice.

I'll give you the blog phenomenom credit for as long as I live, if you vouch for me on the Grill thing.

It's too bad that you don't get the $, really because each time I come here and read your blog I can see how you touch so many lives. I hope you feel rewarded in your heart!

Its hard to believe that even the internet can be antiquated, but it is true. Back in the days of Prodigy, when it took us 3-5 minutes to load a screen, I thought the internet was nothing special. I even tried some of the "old fashioned" social networks...

Blogging is definately better. So glad you invented it!

How can we ever repay you. I know I am eternally greatful, I love blogging!

Totally darling picture, you are a beautiful mother, you radiate happiness!

And then you remembered Relief Society. (whose name is much better than the original idea of Benevolent Society, come on everyone knows we need relief)

Oh, and good job at the invention of the blogosphere...since you thought of it...and I just wondered why we didn't have communal living. Because having a tiny baby and having 3 other adults around = good times.

Hey rad6 - the only thing that really works on a 15 year old girl is time, prayer, lots of hugs and earplugs. I speak with authority - I am "That Girl in Brazil's" mom!!! She turned out sorta ok.... (not because of anything I did!!! - seriously...hang in there)

Hel said...

So does that mean it's ok for me to be making friends on the internet instead of in my neighbourhood? Because I've kind of been bummed about that recently.

To give me credit, I have tried.

Congrats on the idea. I come up with great ideas when I'm about to go to sleep... and then I forget them.

I lived in a group of town homes when I had my first 4 kids, it was amazing to me how having other moms right outside my door to visit with and share with helped my brain! I miss that so very much now that we have moved. Women need women!

So. YOU'RE the one that invented the internet.

Sweet.

Ok, blogging is absolutely my fave, so thanks!! But also, as long as you get a decent group, cafemom.com is a fun place to chat with other women about specific topics. Not to add one more thing to your busy life, but it can be fun!
